-Why: This 6 piece alternative pop band out of (you guessed it) the UK have been releasing chart-topping records and touring the world for the past 10 years and are known for playing live shows in interesting and unexpected locales (The Great Wall of China, for one). Come see them this Sunday in one of Portland’s most interesting venues.

-Why: Operating in 22 cities across the U.S., RAW works to expose the creative talents of up and coming independent artists, musicians, photographers, models, fashion designers, performing artists, and hair and makeup artists through unique monthly events held within the community. Part fashion show, part live music/performance, part art gallery – RAW events showcase and celebrate diverse local talent in an entertaining atmosphere.

The Octopus Project, Man Or Astro-Man? @ The Doug Fir 2/23/11
Fancy gear, fancy lights, and clothes to match. Yes, they have a shtick, but it’s a pretty damn good one. It’s hard to say anything bad about this quartet. Great talent and great performances do not necessarily go hand-in-hand, but for The Octopus Project it most certainly does.
