Lovers @ Rotture 1/19/12

Lovers @ Rotture 1/19/12

In a city so vibrantly alight with music culture there is an overwhelming sentimental sense of the universal collective. A unique community, Portlanders stand by Portlanders, and this act was thoroughly demonstrated at Rotture on Thursday January 19 in performances by Lovers, Brittle Bones, and Anaturale as a benefit for Natalie Hunt.

Glass Candy / Chromatics / Desire @ Branx 01/14/12

It’s hard telling when full size cardboard boxes are going to be happily pushed around above the crowd like a beach ball at a local show.  But last night at Branx it did happen at Mike Simonetti’s (of the Italians Do It Better label) Sweet Sixteen Party bonanza featuring Portland bred Desire, Chromatics and Glass Candy.

City and Colour @ The Wonder Ballroom 01/16/12

After an unexpectedly long shift at work, and a cramped Max ride followed by a chilly walk through the neighborhoods of North Portland, not much about my day seemed redeemable. Happy to finally arrive at the Wonder Ballroom, but sadly missing most of opener The Low Anthem’s set (which sounded like it was very enjoyable, from the crowd’s response at the end), the night quickly proved to make up for the average Monday’s lackluster.
