What’s Going On: 5/18 – 5/27

1. JEFF The Brotherhood w/ The Angry Orts, The Night Beats, and The Greenhornes

-Where: Dante’s
-How Much: $15 (All Ages)
-When: Wednesday, May 18th – 9pm
-Why: In the midst of a mini tour with Cincinnati’s finest, the brothers Orrall bring their brand of Tennessee DIY rock to Portland. With just 3 strings, 3 drums and 3 cymbals the punk ’n roll duo create a surprisingly heavy sound. Known for their “play anytime, anywhere attitude,” The Brotherhood have paved their way to a solid spot in Nashville’s underground garage rock music scene.

2. James Blake w/ Nite Jewel

-Where: Doug Fir
-How Much: $13 adv / $15 (+21)
-When: Friday, May 20th – 9pm
-Why: Post-dubstep from the UK. James Blake is described as a phenom and hailed on many best-of-2010 lists. The love and praise from critics is only surpassed by his tremendous talent. So far, his first visit to the states has humbled the young man and created much buzz around his live show. His reverberant sounds and vulnerable lyrics will more than likely leave a lasting impression.
