1. Ty Segall w/ Night Beats & Nucular Aminals
Where: Star Theater
How Much: $15
When: Thursday, December 13th – 9pm
Why: Sure it sounds cliche, but literally everyone and my mom will be at this show! Do yourself a favor and grab a ticket now–this show will sell out. With 7 albums out in the last 2 years (the most recent, Twins, was named #9 record of the year on SPIN’s top 50), San Francisco’s wunderkind is showing no signs of slowing down.
2. Nuggets Night VI
How Much: $8
When: Saturday, December 15th – 9pm
Why: Nuggets Night returns to Slabtown with The Pynnacles, Suicide Notes, Queued Up, Satin Chaps, Beyond Veronica, The Ex-Girlfriends Club, The Cool Whips, Dirty Rubbers, Paradise, Sellwoods, The Very Foundation, The Deep Joy, Cry of the Shadow Animal, DJ HWY 7, and DJ Web of Sound. Only $8 at the door. Check out more info here.
3. The Soft Moon w/ Group Rhoda & We Are Like The Spider
How Much: $8/$10
When: Tuesday, December 18th – 8:30pm
Why: Lead by Luis Vasquez, fuzzed-out synth-driven post-punk sounds will fill the back room at Holocene and send you somewhere into the ether. After holing up for six months in his apartment, Vasquez recorded the latest album while touring. The result, Zeros, proves he is becoming an even better and more defined songwriter–his creation of atmospheric soundscapes will transcend you.
