When: Thursday, April 19th – 8:30pm
Why: Catch Neutral Milk Hotel’s elusive frontman in his second intimate evening before he heads down to play at Coachella this weekend. Joining the night’s festivities are friends Andrew, Scott, and Laura (members of Elf Power & The Gerbils). A portion of ticket proceeds and $1 from every box set will be donated to benefit Children of the Blue Sky and others in need.

2. Record Store Day!
Where: Your local record store
How Much: As much as you’re willing to spend
When: Saturday, April 21st
Why: It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Hardly needing an explanation, RSD celebrates its 5th year kicking out the limited releases and special goodies from new, old, and local artists. Neighborhood record shops all around town will be open earlier than normal for listening parties, live performances, and all kinds of surprises. Check out a list of participators here!

3. Frankie Rose w/ Dive, Orca Team & Ghost Mom
Where: East End
How Much: $10
When: Monday, April 23th – 9pm
Why: Founding member of the Vivian Girls, drummer, and sometimes vocalist for Crystal Stilts is currently on the road in support of her latest solo album, Interstellar. Filled with multi-tracked vocals and breezy melodies, its sugary-sweet synth-pop that you’ll have no problem shaking your hips to.

What’s Going On: 03/07 – 03/14

1. Crocodiles w/ Bleeding Rainbows
Where: Doug Fir
How Much: $12
When: Wednesday, March 7th—9pm
Why: If you’re into the likes of The Jesus and Mary Chain, Echo & the Bunnymen, or Spacemen 3 then you’re definitely going to want to hit up this show. The lo-fi/shoegazy/noise-pop group hailing from sunny San Diego formed in 2008 with just two members, but has since expanded for their live performance.

2. White Fang w/ Orca Team & The Woolen Men
Where: East End
How Much: $6
When: Saturday, March 10th—9pm
Why: Your favorite party band is playing with your favorite surf-pop post-punk band that relocated to Seattle. It’ll definitely be a treat to have Leif Anders and co. return to show us what the trio has been up to since leaving the Rose City. Show up early to catch indie-pop garage trio The Woolen Men.

3. Record Swap & Sock Hop!
Where: Slabtown
How Much: FREE!
When: Sunday, March 11th—2pm
Why: What better to do on a Sunday afternoon than join Green Noise Records, Mississippi Records, Clinton Street Records, and Little Axe Records as they take over Slabtown. Some of the best record stores in town are bringing rare and hard to find vinyl with each one taking a turn on the tables. DJs Mattie Valentine & Roxy Epoxy finishes the night off.

What’s Going On: 01/25/12-02/01/12

1.  Green Noise Records Night!

Where:  The Know

How Much:  $5

When:  Wednesday, January 25th—8pm

Why:  In case you kids didn’t know, the last Wednesday of every month DJ Ken Dirtnap takes over and features killer bands. This month includes Hornet Leg (members of Psychic Feline, Nucular Aminals, and Hooded Hags), Hey Lover, and Dad & Dad. Music ends by 11—no joke!

2.  Seapony w/ Ghost Animal

Where:  Holocene

How Much:  $7

When:  Thursday, January 26th—8:30pm

Why: One of the best things about Seapony’s twee pop sound is how well it translates live—sugary goodness that leaves you with a smile plastered on your face. You’re gonna want to get your butts there early to catch Ghost Animal playing their first show since July!

3.  Into The Woods 2nd Anniversary!

Where:  Mississippi Studios

How Much:

When:  Friday, January 27th—9pm

Why:  It’s time to celebrate the 2nd year of Portland media powerhouse Into The Woods. These talented and dedicated dudes capture intimate performances of emerging Portland acts. Come help celebrate with Nightmoves, Grandparents, and 1939 Ensemble—with special guests and new video premieres to boot!
