1. Wampire w/ Eternal Tapestry & The Shivas

When: Friday, February 8th – 9pm
Why: Newly signed to Polyvinyl Records, Wampire hits the stage with not one, but two Portland faves: Eternal Tapestry and The Shivas! Come get a sneak peak of some of the new tracks that will be on Wampire’s new record before they hit the road with Unknown Mortal Orchestra!

2. The Helio Sequence w/ Talkdemonic & Yeti Sweater
Where: Cleveland High School
How Much: $10/$12
When: Saturday, February 9th – 7:30pm
Why: Music in the Schools and Eleven PDX Magazine present The Helio Sequence at Cleveland High School and benefit for Music in the Schools! MITS is a non-profit organization run by Portland high school students passionate about music education. Get tickets and get down!

3. Souvenir Driver w/ Paper Brain
Where: Rontoms
How Much: Free
When: Sunday, February 10th – 9pm
Why: Souvenir Driver has been driving their way into the Portland scene with their bliss pop tunes. They opened for The Dandy Warhol’s Christmas Show in December as well as released their latest album, Lifts The Curse. Playing alongside with another rising star over the last couple of years, Paper Brain, this show is sure to be packed!

What’s Going On: 01/23 – 01/30


1. Banana Stand Media & ELEVEN PDX Present: Grandparents w/ Still Caves & Paper Brain
Where: Holocene
How Much: $5
When: Thursday, January 24th – 8:30pm
Why:  What could be better than two awesome local music-loving entities come together? Not much. Well, maybe this show and these mind-blowingly awesome bands. Come celebrate the release of Grandparents – Live from the Banana Stand! Teamed up with local favs Paper Brain and Still Caves.

2.  School of Rock: Best of Portland 2
Where: Crystal Ballroom
How Much: $13/$17 – All Ages
When: Friday, January 25th -8pm
Why:  Portland teens play local jams with local heroes! All proceeds go to benefit Music in the Schools and PROWUS Music Scholarships. Music and appearances by: Red Fang, Blind Pilot, Typhoon, Radiation City, Blitzen Trapper, Portugal. The Man, Sons of Huns, Guantanamo Baywatch, Laura Gibson, Wild Ones, and more!

3. The Walkmen w/ Father John Misty
Where: Roseland Theater
How Much: $22/$25 – All Ages
When: Saturday, January 26th – 9pm
Why: At first glance it seems a little pricy when you’re used to shelling out $5-$15 to see bands around town, but big time national touring acts are gonna cost ya. Truly a heck of a deal to get two talented acts–for the price of one! If you haven’t seen the video for Father John Misty’s “Hollywood Forever Cemetery”, you should.

What’s Going On: 12/14 – 12/21

1. Y La Bamba w/ Sean Flinn & The Royal We, Rememory
Where: Holocene
How Much: $7
When: Thursday, December 15 –8:30pm
Why: It’s always an incredible evening with Portland sweethearts, Y La Bamba. Let Luz Elena Mendoza and company warm you up with wonderfully unique vocals and striking presence. Joining them are Sean Flinn & The Royal We whose folk-pop music is filling Al’s Den this month and is bound to fill your hearts.

2. Federale w/ The Soft White Sixties & Brush Prairie
Where: Mississippi Studios
How Much: $5/$7
When: Friday, December 16 –9pm
Why: Come witness the full orchestral sound and haunting 1960’s Italian Western-inspired music of Federale. Known for having more than a dozen musicians for their live performance—it’s truly a sonic treat for your ears. Starting the night off is Zia McCabe’s (Dandy Warhols) country side project featuring members of SexyWaterSpiders and The Shivas.

3. Spookies w/ Woolen Men & Paper Brain
Where: The Know
How Much: $5
When: Saturday, December 17 –8pm
Why: Ex-Shaky Hands members Alex Arrowsmith, Colin Anderson, and Mayhaw Hoons team up with bassist Mickey Rivers for a new pop-rock adventure. This will be Spookies debut show, so come out and show some love. Get there early (for real) and catch the head-bobbing, booty-shaking tunes of Woolen Men and Paper Brain.
