I meant to ask London resident Jeremy Jay why he picked Portland as the first stop on the 2012 tour to promote his new album, Dream Diary. It might have been because he lived here for three and half years (a long time ago), or because of his love for Dots Café or House of Vintage…the list goes on. Regardless, it was Holocene’s pleasure to host him Thursday night, along with openers Ghost Animal and Seapony.

1. Green Noise Records Night!
Where: The Know
How Much: $5
When: Wednesday, January 25th—8pm
Why: In case you kids didn’t know, the last Wednesday of every month DJ Ken Dirtnap takes over and features killer bands. This month includes Hornet Leg (members of Psychic Feline, Nucular Aminals, and Hooded Hags), Hey Lover, and Dad & Dad. Music ends by 11—no joke!
2. Seapony w/ Ghost Animal
How Much: $7
When: Thursday, January 26th—8:30pm
Why: One of the best things about Seapony’s twee pop sound is how well it translates live—sugary goodness that leaves you with a smile plastered on your face. You’re gonna want to get your butts there early to catch Ghost Animal playing their first show since July!
3. Into The Woods 2nd Anniversary!
Where: Mississippi Studios
When: Friday, January 27th—9pm
Why: It’s time to celebrate the 2nd year of Portland media powerhouse Into The Woods. These talented and dedicated dudes capture intimate performances of emerging Portland acts. Come help celebrate with Nightmoves, Grandparents, and 1939 Ensemble—with special guests and new video premieres to boot!
