1. The Babies w/ Houndstooth & Campfires
How Much: $10
When: Wednesday, November 28th – 8:30pm
Why: Formed in 2009, The Babies feature Cassie Ramone (Vivian Girls) and Kevin Morby (Woods). Hot on the heels of the quartet’s second full-length, Our House on the Hill, the band embarked on a supporting tour. The album is full of three-chord garage-pop gems, highlighted by the vocals of both Ramone and Morby.
2. Federale w/ Pt. Juncture WA & The Shivas
Where: Doug Fir
How Much: $10
When: Friday, November 30th – 9pm
Why: An album release celebration with Spaghetti Western soundtrack purveyors Federale. Their third studio release, The Blood Flowed Like Wine, features vocals from The Black Angel’s Alex Maas and KP Thomas of Spindrift, and retains the signature operatic vocals, blasting trumpets, and twangy reverbed guitars.
3. Battleme w/ My Goodness & The Ax
Where: Mississippi Studios
How Much: $10/$12
When: Saturday, December 1st – 9pm
Why: Battleme is the moniker of Matt Drenik (Lions), who relocated to Portland a couple years ago to work solely on this project. You probably remember him from this years MFNW or Seattle’s Capital Hill Block Party– a mix of post-modern rock and soul with powerful hooks and falsetto vocals.
