1. KPSU & PSPS Presents: Grandparents w/ Broken Water
Where: Food For Thought Cafe
How Much: $5/$7
When: Thursday, February 23rd—8pm
Why: One of Portland’s finest up and coming shoegazy psych bands serves up their sound with a side of garage and krautrock. Joining them is Olympia’s Broken Water whose reverb-drenched psychedelic garage jams are second to none. Only $5 for students (with ID) and $7 for non-students. Good times are sure to be had!
2. Quasi w/ Young Prisms & Stay Calm
Where: Mississippi
How Much: $10/$12
When: Friday, February 24th—9pm
Why: This indie rock duo needs no explanation, but you’re really in for a treat with this rad line-up! San Francisco’s Young Prisms are a psych beach-pop five-piece and Stay Calm is the collaboration of Claudia Meza (Explode Into Colors), Zac Pennington (Parenthetical Girls, Xiu Xiu), and Joe Kelly (formerly of Panther and 31 Knots). Get there!
3. Hornet Leg w/ K-Tel ’79 & Hurry Up
Where: Valentine’s
How Much: Free
When: Sunday, February 26th—9pm
Why: If you haven’t seen Hornet Leg, shame on you! But really, Valentine’s is my favorite place to see this primitive rock’n’roll trio. Also on the evening’s roster is K-Tel79’ with members formerly of Best Supporting Actress and Cat Fancy! Continuing in the trio-themed evening is Hurry Up, featuring Westin Glass and Kathy Foster of The Thermals.
