Best of 2013

My top 11 shows of 2013 in no particular order -

  1. Lady Gaga – Rose Garden Arena before they changed the name to something less desirable…
  2. Elton John – The Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace in Vegas
  3. The Neighbourhood – Crystal Ballroom
  4. Letlive. – Expo Center – Warped Tour, despite it being a short set the band was explosive and memorable. Things were thrown. Pants were thrashed off.
  5. Beyonce – MGM Grand Garden Arena in Vegas- Because Bey.
  6. Fall Out Boy – Roseland Theater – I got to see Pete Wentz in his favorite skirt.
  7. AFI- Roseland Theater – Davey Havok vogueing and walking on heads is a site to be seen on halloween.
  8. Icona Pop – The Metro in Chicago
  9. Nine Inch Nails – The Moda Center – Probably one of the coolest visual displays I’ve seen ever.
  10. 30 Seconds To Mars – Sleep Train Amphitheatre in Chula Vista – I could easily just say X-Fest in its entirety for this.
  11. Blink-182 because well….I can’t help myself.

What’s Going On: 8/24 – 8/31

1.  Grass Widow w/ Blood Beach, XDS & Nature
Where:  Mississippi Studios
How Much: $12 (21+)
When:  Thursday, August 25 – 9pm
Why:  If you don’t have a ticket already, there’s a good chance you can still get one at the door, but they will go quickly.  Grass Widow is an exceptionally talented trio from San Francisco.  It’s easy to stick the post-punk label on them, but these ladies break the rules more often than they follow them.  Check them out, go to this show, and thank me later. [Editor's note: I'll thank you now -- they're great!]
