Live Review: Samantha Crain & First Aid Kit at the Roseland Theater
We’re spending the afternoon catching up on some past work that has fallen through the cracks in the past couple of weeks, and one of those gems was our coverage of Samantha Crain and First Aid Kit’s beyond-lovely show at the Roseland Theater last month.
On paper, the pairing of Crain and sisters Johanna and Klara Söderberg seemed like a match made in Female Folk Singer Heaven, and the show certainly didn’t disappoint. Crain’s midwestern twang-tinged folks served as the perfect appetizer for the Söderberg sisters, playing an engaging set to the already packed house that included “For The Miner” and a Jason Molina cover. The Swedes then subsequently brought down the house with an awe-inspiring set that included classics like “Emmylou”, “My Silver Lining”, a cover of Jack White’s “Love Interruption” and a solo acoustic performance of “Ghost Town” that left the Roseland so spellbound you could have heard a proverbial pin drop.
