Miss Grit / Just Mustard – Polaris Hall, May 10, 2026
Ethereal, dream-synth pop with a bit of rock deliverd by Margaret Sohn and Just Mustard.

Miss Grit visited Polaris Hall in support of recent album Under My Umbrella. Irish shoegaze outfit Just Mustard soon followed and played a reverb and distortion soaked set filled with .
Miss Grit (aka Margaret Sohn) quietly took to the stage and promptly created an experience for the audience that explored the depth of love’s trials and tribulations. Sohn’s music incorporates deep pulsating synth leads, distorted textures, vocals drowned in reverb. “Mind Disaster”, the second song on this year’s Under My Umbrella, pulsates with a thumping techno beat and vocal delivery reminiscent of 90s electronica like Opus III and Debut-era Bjork. She was accompanied on stage by a projection of herself streaming onto the ceiling. The images created another layer of complexity to the performance as the audience could venture and lose themselves in the projections swirling above.
Reversing onto Itself
Afterwards, Just Mustard followed and melted faces with waves of modulated guitar. The Irish quintet’s lavish use of reverberation, delay, and fuzzy tones in the venue’s small space created a noirish setting for lead singer’s Katie Bell’s vocals to gently shimmer within the mix. For instance, “We Were Just Here” from the band’s most recent album of the same name, Bell enigmatically sings: Everything happens / all the time / All around me now / I just wanna make it feel good. Similarly, tracks like “Still” worked to emphasize guitarist David Noonan’s gentle zeal for guitar effects as the song’s main riff seemed to reverse onto itself leading to a nearly chaotic ending to tune.
Miss Grit and Just Mustard performed a gloriously understated night of songs that captivated the crowd. Audience members were treated by sets whose grooves and softly sung ethereal lyrics made for a memorable evening devoid of pretense but rich in texture.
