Portland, OR—On Saturday, October 19, 2019, after 100 print editions, ELEVEN PDX’s print format is going the way of landlines, cable tv, and affordable rent. That’s right, folks, print media’s officially over. We’re bummed, too, but paper’s for boomers (and we’ve run out of trees), so we’re going digital. We’re inviting everyone to join us on the Doug Fir and Jupiter Hotel patios on October 19, between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. to celebrate 100 print editions, the official launch of our digital publication on our renovated website, and the subsequent death of print media.

ELEVEN PDX’s Print Funeral and Digital Launch Party, presented by Saint Archer Brewing Company, will play host to on-site screen printing, pop-up craft vendors, an art raffle of pieces created by some of our favorite featured artists, and live music from start to finish by choice local bands and DJs. Former ELEVEN co-publisher Dustin Mills (dec. October 2018) will have a tribute from his band Mere Mention, via a listening party of their debut album. The event will also raise funds for Pass The Mic, a charity that provides immigrant and refugee youth with high-quality and culturally responsive music education and mentorship by experienced Portland musicians. Regarding the event, ELEVEN publisher Ryan Dornfeld stated, “Let’s do a thing.” We hope all our friends and fans will drop by for an hour or six to share stories, hug necks and drink drinks.

While it was impressive to see our labor of love manifested monthly in the glossy pages of Portland’s most side-table-friendly culture zine, we’re excited to shift our focus onto featuring the latest local music and art happenings you’ve come to expect on a more accessible and sustainable digital platform. We can’t wait to kick off ELEVEN PDX’s next chapter with the community we love (so much that we decided to make a zine about it). See you there!
