Chalk, live at the Holocene, November 9th, 2025
Chalk, the Belfast-based trio, stopped at Holocene this past weekend. The band consists of Ross Cullen on vocals, Benedict Goddard on guitar and synth, and Luke Niblock on drums. They are headlining their first U.S. tour after a successful run in Europe, and we were lucky enough to catch them on their second stop.
Blending genres like techno and punk, this set was both emotionally charged and energetic. Lead singer Ross Cullen has an emotional depth in his vocals that is truly impressive. Cullen delivers the lyrics with striking vulnerability, shifting his voice between restraint and intensity to create a very human sound. Drummer Luke Niblock balances raw power with precision, while guitarist Benedict Goddard adds undeniable charisma to the band’s presence. Their music commands the dance floor, and their lyrics evoke raw emotion from the crowd.

Chalk will be completing their first US headline run with two shows in California and one in New York on the 20th of this month, promoting their recently released EP, Conditions. If you didn’t get a chance to see Chalk this time, follow Eleven PDX to find out when they will be performing in Portland next.
