What’s Going On: 10/31 – 11/07
1. Warm Soda w/ Cheap Bliss & The Cry!
Where: Club 21
How Much: Free!
When: Thursday, November 1st – 9pm
Why: After Bare Wires called it quits earlier this year, frontman Matthew Melton didn’t spend too much time grieving before starting up his latest band, Warm Soda. In similar fashion to the more recent tunes the Oakland band was recording, this trio dish out sugary sweet power-pop melodies with a side of punk fury. *There’s a Big Eyes and Guantanamo Baywatch house show that you should check out before!*
2. Wooden Indian Burial Ground w/ Au Dunes
Where: Doug Fir
How Much: $5
When: Friday, November 2nd – 9pm
Why: Dig up some change and hit the town for Wooden Indian Burial Ground’s vinyl release this Friday. The lo-fi psychedelic garage rockers have been working hard and let me tell you, it’s paid off. Their album was released on Tuesday and is available for your listening pleasure via bandcamp – you’ll definitely want to bring some cash for the record. Au Dunes will set the mood off right with some surfy psych-pop.
3. METZ w/ Bison Bison
Where: Bunk Bar
How Much: $10
When: Saturday, November 3rd – 9pm
Why: Over the last 3+ years, METZ have played in basements, skate shops, clubs, and festivals, sharing stages with Mission of Burma, Death From Above 1979, Archers of Loaf, and more. Their live shows are a full on assault of the senses, and their sound is a fresh throwback to the loud and ecstatic days of bands like The Jesus Lizard and The Pixies. This Toronto band is the power trio you’ve been waiting for.
