What’s Going On: 01/29 – 02/05

1. Washed Out w/ Kisses
Where: Crystal Ballroom
How Much: $16
When: Thursday, January 30th – 8pm
Why: Washed Out (Ernest Greene) brings his own brand of blurry bedroom synth-pop to the table. Surprisingly, this show is not sold out yet so pick up your tickets quick if you don’t want to be left standing in the rain (yes, I also do weather predictions now). Check out the interview Greene had with Eleven Magazine in our January issue!

2. The Mantles w/ Still Caves & HD Personalites
Where: Alhambra Theater
How Much: $5
When: Saturday, February 1st – 9pm
Why: Finally! Bay Area’s The Mantles make their way up the West Coast! The quartet’s latest full-length, Long Enough to Leave, is a strong sophomore effort, though I personally played the band’s self-titled debut until it drove my roomies nuts. With Still Caves and HD Personalities on the bill, this is where you should be Saturday night.

3. White Denim w/ Clear Plastic Masks
Where: Doug Fir
How Much: $13/$15
When: Sunday, February 2nd – 9pm
Why: A fusion of Southern rock, punk, psych, and funk Austin’s White Denim fifth studio album, Corsicana Lemonade, is like a delightful long-lost mixed tape. Now based in Nashville, Clear Plastic Masks are reminiscent of the Black Keys and Buffalo Killers–in all the good bluesy rock’n’roll ways.
