What’s Going On: 11/30 – 12/07
1. Thee Oh Sees w/ Total Control & Mean Jeans
Where: Doug Fir (+21)
How Much: $12
When: Thursday, December 1 – 9pm
Why: John Dwyer is a surf-psych music machine—between releasing a couple of full-lengths, a 12’’ split with tourmates Total Control, and the seemingly constant touring this year—one wonders when the man has time to breathe. I venture to say: music is his oxygen and life is the carbon dioxide.
2.The Head and the Heart w/ Mayer Hawthorne & Graffiti6
Where: Roseland Theater
How Much: $25
When: Friday, December 2 – 7:30pm
Why: One the verge of world domination, Seattle’s own The Head and the Heart make yet another Portland stop to play part in KINK’s Jingle Bell Jam. Along for the sleigh ride is the soulful Mayer Hawthorne—he’ll throw you back to the 50s and 60s, and bring you back in a tailspin with his present, yet futuristic style.
3. Dan Deacon w/ Purple & Green, & Jason Urick
Where: Branx (All Ages)
How Much: $10/$13
When: Saturday, December 3 – 8pm
Why: You’ll be kicking yourself come Sunday when everyone’s talking about the mind-blowing noisy dance pop from the energetic and innovative Baltimore native, Dan Deacon. Do yourself a favor and get your ticket right-this-second. You’ll have one hell of a night, and you know…you can thank me later.
Also, three Typhoon shows at Mississippi Studios, December 2 and 3 (all-ages day show, 21+ night show).
