What’s Going On: 4/20 – 4/27

1. The Pains of Being Pure at Heart / Twin Shadow
-Where: Doug Fir
-How Much: $15
-When: Thursday, April 21st – 9pm
-Why: Fresh from Coachella and on the brink of a lengthy tour overseas, this NYC quartet visits Portland in support of their sophomore effort, Belong. Channeling their inner Siamese Dream-era Billy Corgan, the twee pop group gets their feet wet with Flood (the big-name producer, Mark Ellis). Gentle fuzzed-out distorted walls of sound? Count me in!

2. Y La Bamba
-Where: Mississippi Studios
-How Much: $13
-When: Friday, April 22nd – 9pm
-Why: How much does Portland love Y La Bamba? Enough to pay for their next album! Holy kickstarter, Batman! Contributions from fans (146 to be exact) surpassed the band’s goal of $8,000. Recording starts in June, so grab a ticket and get a taste of what’s to come before they go on tour with Neko Case!
3. OFF!
-Where: East End
-How Much: $11 (21+)
-When: Saturday, April 23rd – 9pm
-Why: Keith Morris (Black Flag/Circle Jerks), Dimitri Coats (Burning Brides), Mario Rubalcaba (Earthless/Hot Snakes/Rocket From The Crypt), and Steven McDonald (Redd Kross). This is pretty self-explanatory, kids! Plus: Mikey & The Mistakes! Mean Jeans! Blood Beach! Don’t miss out!
