Top 11 Local Releases of 2017

2017 was a fairly shit year, generally speaking, and it doesn’t seem to be letting up as we burn these last few weeks to the ground. I think most of us can agree? On the bright side, however, Portland’s art and music communities ate that shit right up and churned out some fantastic new work. The hip hop scene stepped further out into the national spotlight, where it so rightly belongs. Plus, we saw some long-awaited comebacks from favorites of yore, and some exciting new breakout acts across the far stretches of the blanket term “indie rock.”

In fact there were so many great releases this year, it was somewhat harrowing to whittle down our list of faves to highlight. But after a democratic AF voting process, we’ve arrived. Without further adieu, here are our top 11 local releases of 2017, plus the runners up.
