What’s Going On: 08/08 – 08/15
1. Into The Woods Quarterly
Where: Holocene
How Much: $5
When: Thursday, August 9th – 8:30pm
Why: Portland’s favorite provocative documentarians are at it again — highlighting a handful of emerging local talented acts and premiering a few videos. This time around with the sounds of Aan, Pure Bathing Culture, WL, and Shy Girls. Along for the ride are DJ Zack and DJ Sister Sister. Brush your hair and throw on your Thursday best — the Into The Woods crew will undoubtedly be filming over the course of the night.
2. XDS w/ Hustle and Drone
Where: Rontoms
How Much: Free
When: Sunday, August 12th – 9pm
Why: Excitement abounds for this week’s Sunday Sessions at Rontoms. Forming in February of this year, electro-pop outfit Hustle and Drone will start the night out right. Check out their self-titled debut album released just last week. Next, the self-described “Casio keyboards making out with acid” known as XDS. Learn it, listen to it, love it. If you didn’t catch them at PDX Pop! Now this year, you definitely won’t want to miss this.
3. The Audacity w/ Big Eyes & The Memories
Where: Club 21
How Much: Free
When: Monday, August 13th – 9pm
Why: Fullterton, CA garage punk-pop rockers The Audacity have been busy playing with King Tuff and Ty Segall, but now they’re back in Portland headlining this super solid Monday line-up. With punk’n’roll Seattle trio Big Eyes, local stoner pop tunes from The Memories (members of White Fang and BOOM!), and Orange County punks Bad Antics. Show up on time or you’ll be hearing about it from all your friends on Tuesday.
