Video Premiere – Wynne, Christo “Carrot Cake”
Wynne is on fire. The new video for “Carrot Cake,” the Portland rapper’s latest single, has her literally lit up, and there’s no tricks or body doubles involved. Shot in one take, the video accompanies Wynne’s first Single from her upcoming EP, Do My Own Stunts, and serves as proof to anyone who doubts it. She is joined for the project by Dreamville producer, Christo, who brought the cake. Christo masterfully draws out the tension between bouncy 808s and an eerily sparse synth line to give “Carrot Cake” its infectious energy, which Wynne takes and channels into something distinctly fresh, carefully curated, but undeniably fun. “Carrot Cake” is a step forward with a clear nod to her roots as a bar-heavy cipher queen. We only hope she saves us a slice. Check out the video below, and stay tuned for Do My Own Stunts, out November 11th via Eyrst.
“Carrot Cake” was directed by Wynne alongside PDX videographer Riley Brown, and stunts were coordinated by MarkAnthony Baca, though they were, of course, done by Wynne.
